The Glow of Roses

I told you yesterday that I have been looking for new makeup/ beauty techniques and I found some great ways that are cheap, pretty natural, and effective. I am going to share my knowledge with you! (^_^)

Rose Water

The rose has so many jobs, doesn't it? Rose water in particular has a long history in folk remedies-- especially skincare. It's suitable for all skin types; dry, sensitive, and ageing skin in particular. It acts as a toner and astringent on the capillaries underneath the surface of the skin. Use of this eliminates the redness caused by enlarged capillaries. It's very soothing to irritated skin and acts as an antiseptic to acne. It is said to slow the process of ageing. And what a better way to refresh your tired skin in the morning?

You can buy "rose water" at beauty stores or health food stores. If you buy rose water, make sure the product contains 100% natural rose essential oil. Even though some products claim to contain rose products, the products may be synthetic and synthetic roses don't have the same effect. You can also make your own by adding a few drops of rose essential oil to water and a vitamin E capsule and a little optional coconut oil in a small bottle or spray bottle. Just shake,  put some on a cotton ball and dap onto your face and dap off before you put on your makeup. Throughout the day, spray rose water onto skin, or skin with makeup for a dewy, bright, glowing complexion.

Clean Makeup Brushes

If you wear makeup you most likely use makeup brushes to apply correctly and evenly, right? Using brushes daily without cleaning them builds up bacteria and old makeup in the bristles of the brushes-- some bacteria that can even cause breakouts and skin problems! Before you go out and spend money on some expensive brush shampoo, listen to this easy home remedy that works and gets brushes sanitised and ready for makeup application.

Use this at least once a week or every day if you have the time to let them dry (which takes about 5-10 hours depending on brush size).

Ingredients:
antibacterial hand soap (or dish soap) {2-4 tablespoons}
olive oil (1 to 2 tablespoons)
witch hazel (2-3 tablespoons)

Instructions:
In a small bowl or dish, combine soap, olive oil, and witch hazel. Wet brush under luke warm water. Pour some mixture into hand and twirl brush in mixture. Squeeze brush and rinse under luke warm water until water runs clean. Put brushes on a towel in open air to dry. That's it! Just by doing that simple process, you are saving yourself from breakouts and skin problems and even dry brushes!
